WE Architecture is prequalified, together with Danhaus, Mangor & Nagel and Holmsgaard A/S, in the competition to create a new modular building-system for Boligselskabet Sjælland.

The building system is for low/dense settlements in 1 - 1 ½ - 2 stories and consists of a flexible system that can adapt to different geographical locations. Furthermore, the system strives to achieve high standards within sustainability, and thus must meet the 2020 energy demands.

The vision is to create a building system which is at the top of the class and to create dwellings that function as individual units, so the flexibility and combination can match any given requests. The building-system consists of a mix of houses that differentiate in size, so that Boligselskabet Sjælland can accommodate diverse user groups. The inspiration for our project has been the small-town settlement, with narrow winding roads, high diversity and a strong sense of community.

Creating local community and “WE-ness” of a newly build project is always at great focus when we work, as for instance in the project we are now constructing in Birkerød for KAB, Kajerødgrunden, also together with Danhaus. Here the project combines public and private housing to promote a greater diversity. This method will allow for different means of community development by encouraging chance meetings and spontaneous interaction between residents.
